- Yesterday, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a slate of deregulatory actions, all of which advance the administration’s goal of unleashing American energy to lower costs for American families and businesses.
“The Biden administration burdened American families and businesses with a slew of harmful regulations, driving up the cost of energy, cars, heating, and even day-to-day operations. These policies have made it harder and more expensive to build, produce, and thrive in the United States. I commend President Trump and Administrator Zeldin for their leadership in challenging these overreaching regulations that have stifled the American economy and raised the cost of living for everyone.”

- This Week’s Budget Crisis, AI, and Measuring Fiscal Progress!
- With Congress this week again wrestling to avoid a government shutdown and this year’s federal deficit projected to be $1.9 trillion it is way past time to get America’s fiscal house in order.
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) has a central role to play. It is time to systematically deploy it in the federal government and document cost savings and related efficiencies says Paul Steidler, Senior Fellow with the Lexington Institute.
- AI can reduce government costs, improve government efficiency, and promote economic growth. With the U.S. Government Accountability Office reporting in April 2024 that the federal government loses $233 billion to $521 billion annually due to fraud alone the potential for efficiency improvements is huge.
- In addition to the initial steps the Trump Administration has taken to promote government efficiency, Steidler calls on the President to issue an Executive Order that will compel every Cabinet-level Department to identify and report on two significant ways in which AI has, or in the coming months will, reduce costs and improve efficiencies. These are to be shared government wide and with the American public.
Panelist:
Paul Steidler is a Senior Fellow at the Lexington Institute, a public policy thinktank based in Arlington, VA.
