- The statement, titled, “A Promise to Our Guests,” was posted to Facebook on Monday morning:
- The restaurant chain, long beloved for its traditional American charm, faced a storm of criticism after unveiling a modernized logo that ditched iconic elements like the barrel and the “Old Country Store” tagline.
- Fans, including President Donald Trump, slammed the change as a “woke” erasure of heritage, leading to a $94 million drop in stock value in just one day.
- The statement, issued on Monday, attempts to convince customers that the core of Cracker Barrel remains unchanged despite the rebrand.
“We’re truly grateful for your heartfelt voices. You’ve also shown us that we could’ve done a better job sharing who we are and who we’ll always be,” Cracker Barrel wrote.
The company asserted that, “The things people love most about our stores aren’t going anywhere: rocking chairs on the porch, a warm fire in the hearth, peg games on the table, unique treasures in our gift shop, and vintage Americana with antiques pulled straight from our warehouse in Lebanon, Tennessee.”
“We know we won’t always get everything right the first time, but we’ll keep testing, learning, and listening to our guests and employees,” the statement said. “At the end of the day, our promise is simple: you’ll always find comfort, community, and country hospitality here at Cracker Barrel.”
Company officials emphasized that beloved features like the rocking chairs, peg games, and vintage decor are here to stay, and the “old timer” figure of founder Uncle Herschel will still grace menus and stores.
While Cracker Barrel claims it’s “listening to our guests and employees,” many on social media have said they view the statement as a half-hearted apology, when what they actually want is a reversal. - Maryland Gov. Wes Moore said in a Sunday interview that he is actively looking into redistricting options in his state, as the partisan effort expands across the country.
- “When I say all options are on the table, all options are on the table,” Moore said in an interview on CBS News’s Face the Nation (The Hill).
- “Governor Wes Moore of Maryland has asked, in a rather nasty and provocative tone, that I ‘walk the streets of Maryland’ with him,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Sunday morning. “I assume he is talking about out of control, crime ridden, Baltimore? As President, I would much prefer that he clean up this Crime disaster before I go there for a ‘walk.’”
- “Wes Moore’s record on Crime is a very bad one, unless he fudges his figures on crime like many of the other ‘Blue States’ are doing,” Trump wrote. “But if Wes Moore needs help, like “Gavin Newscum” did in L.A., I will send in the ‘troops,’ which is being done in nearby DC, and quickly clean up the Crime.”
- The president went on to criticize Baltimore over its crime rate and threatened to rethink federal funding for the rebuilding of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, which was severely damaged after a cargo ship crashed into one of its pillars last year. Moore has repeatedly defended his record on crime, noting the city’s homicide rates have hit a historic low under his tenure.

- A federal appeals court in San Francisco granted the Trump administration an emergency stay, halting a lower-court order that preserved Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 60,000 immigrants from Honduras, Nicaragua and Nepal.
- The National TPS Alliance, which represents people with TPS in the U.S., as well as those from Honduras, Nicaragua and Nepal who challenged the decision to terminate TPS, argue the action was unlawful and at least partially motivated by racial bias.
- A third federal judge has denied a motion from the Justice Department to release grand jury materials connected to the Jeffrey Epstein case, calling them a “diversion.”
- S. District Judge Richard M. Berman denied the request in a 14-page decision published Wednesday.
- While it’s rare for the government to seek the unsealing of grand jury materials, Berman wrote that there were about 70 pages of Epstein grand jury materials – compared to 100,000 pages in possession of the government.
- Federal prosecutors in Washington, D.C., will no longer slap people with felony charges for possession of rifles or shotguns in the nation’s capital, according to U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro.
- The change means federal prosecutors will not seek charges under the D.C. law that made it illegal to carry rifles or shotguns in the district, except in limited cases for permit holders.
