- Americans don’t want to do those jobs?
- This story from NBC News June 15th: OMAHA, Neb. — Every seat in the waiting area of Glenn Valley Foods was occupied with people filling out job applications early Thursday afternoon, two days after the meatpacking plant became the center of the largest worksite immigration raid in the state of Nebraska so far this year.
- Dozens of prospective employees, many of them Spanish speakers, had been coming in and out of the plant all day. Some were hoping to land a new job; others were coming in for training.
- The scene gave the company’s president, Chad Hartmann, a glimmer of hope amid the chaos that ensued after Tuesday's raid purged roughly half of his staff — many of whom had been longtime employees of the company, which has been processing boxed beef for more than 15 years.

- Trump had agreed to add provisions blocking the creation of a central bank digital currency (CBDC) — like those in the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act, one of the three crypto bills on the floor — to a second bill, the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act.
- The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act aims to provide the crypto industry with clear rules by drawing a bright line between oversight by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
- Trump’s deal sought to alleviate the hardliner’s chief concern, which was that the crypto bills laid the framework for a CBDC.

Segment Topic:
What have learned from Butler?
- What have we learned from the GAO Report and the Rand Paul Reports?
- The Secret Service’s “cascade of preventable failures” in Butler, Pennsylvania, nearly cost President Trump his life last year, and the disciplinary penalties were “far too weak,” a Senate report has concluded.
- The report, released Sunday on the anniversary of the July 13 rally in Butler, wrapped up the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee’s investigation into the Secret Service’s “stunning failures” that led to the deadly sniper-style attack in which Mr. Trump was shot in the ear.
- The committee describes “a disturbing pattern of communication failures and negligence that culminated in a preventable tragedy.”
- Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old gunman, “was able to evade detection by the country’s top protective agency for nearly 45 minutes” because of limited coordination among security partners, line-of-sight vulnerabilities that were flagged and not addressed and other failures, the report said.
- No one at the Secret Service was fired.
- In another failure at the Butler rally, the Secret Service received classified intelligence about a threat to Mr. Trump 10 days before the assassination attempt but did not share it with agents and law enforcement partners running security at the event, the Government Accountability Office said last week.
- The Senate report also highlighted the failure of intelligence sharing. Its conclusions about the Secret Service’s shortcomings were similar to the GAO report and other reviews by a bipartisan House task force, an independent review panel and the Secret Service’s internal review.
- The Secret Service obtained classified intelligence information about a threat to President Trump 10 days before an attempt on his life at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, but failed to share it with its agents and law enforcement partners in charge of securing the event.
- Although the threat was unrelated to the gunman who shot at Mr. Trump in Butler last year, had the intelligence been shared with officials in charge of securing the rally, it would have changed the security posture for the event, the Government Accountability Office found.
- Charles E. Grassley, Iowa Republican, requested the GAO, a nonpartisan government auditor, conduct a review of the Secret Service’s failure to thwart the assassination attempt, and the auditor spent nearly a year doing so.
- The GAO’s report, which Mr. Grassley released Saturday, a day before the one-year anniversary of the July 13 Butler rally, drew many of the conclusions as those from two congressional panels, an independent review panel and the Secret Service’s internal review.
- “Siloed information-sharing practices prevented officials with significant security responsibilities from having access to threat information that could have changed how they secured the area,” the GAO said.
- Secret Service officials and state and local law enforcement partners who were kept in the dark about the threat told the GAO they would have taken different steps to secure the rally had they known about the threat. (The Washington Times/Linda McPherson)

Segment Topic:
- Elon Musk wants to create a third party!
- Will “America party” damage the Uni-Party or Republican Party more?
- Why not wait until after the midterms in 2026?
- Is a coalition government (EU style) in America’s future?
- Even if Musk files the paperwork to create the party, enormous hurdles loom. Gaining ballot access would be difficult in many states. Drawing in supporters would be daunting. And more broadly, breaking the two-party stranglehold on U.S. politics is easier said than done — as previous flirtations by groups like No Labels and national candidates like Michael Bloomberg taught them before they abandoned the pursuit.
- But assuming for a moment that the world’s richest man marshals his resources to create the new party, what impact could it have? Recent national polls offer a clue about who is more likely to be attracted to it: Republican voters.
- A Quinnipiac University national poll last month tested Musk’s popularity: It found that he’s viewed favorably by 62% of Republican voters but just 3% of Democratic voters. And in battleground Wisconsin, a recent Marquette University Law School poll found that three-quarters of Republicans have favorable opinions of him, compared with 1% of Democrats.
- That suggests Musk has so thoroughly alienated Democrats that there’s little risk of their getting interested in his third party. But among Republicans? That’s a very different story. Both polls also found that Musk is considerably stronger with men than women, and the Wisconsin poll found that he’s more appealing to voters with incomes above $75,000 than those who make less.
